A consultant obstetrician and gnaecologist, Dr Madziga Isa,
on Monday advised Nigerians to suspend the eating of roasted meat, locally
known as Suya, to guard against contracting Ebola virus.
In a statement. Isa, of NNPC Staff Clinic, also said Nigerians should avoid
fish and bush meat, as well as wash their hands regularly as a part of
precautionary measures against infection.
He made the call in Kaduna during a public awareness lecture
with the theme "Ebola: Deadly, Untreatable but Preventable",
organised by the Kaduna Refining and
Petrochemical Company (KRPC).
The consultant urged the populace to reduce their contacts
with people, avoid unsafe sex and dispose of the dead with utmost caution.
"Do not use your hands to carry dead animals, make sure
you wear gloves or use stick to carry them and always use bleach in your
household to disinfect.''
In another contribution, Dr Saleh Sagir, the Manager, Plant
Clinic of KRPC said residents must improve on their personal hygiene and
