The Anambra State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle along the Awka and Enugu Expressway. This was disclosed in a police report obtained by this publication in Abuja.
According to the reports, upon a distress call, police operatives on stop and search patrols along the road intercepted an unregistered Toyota Corolla car with two male occupants.
“The car was earlier reported taken away from the owner - a car dealer in Awka fraudulent circumstances. The owner handed over the car to the suspects after receiving a bank SMS credit alert of N1 35 million on his phone”.
The statement added that the victim discovered that the bank credit alert he received was fraudulently created by the suspects and pushed to his mobile phone.
“The victim immediately alerted the police and information was sent out to all police units, one of the suspects waived a fake police identity card at the officers that accosted them apparently to evade arrest. Both suspects have been taken into custody and the car recovered. Investigations are ongoing,” police stated.
