Ghana footballer Asamoah Gyan is a prolific striker who bangs in spectacular goals when you least expect it. Gyan became popular for two things; goals and his dance style, it is widely speculated that he popularised a particular "Asamoah Gyan Dance" which has become a household Ghanaian dance. One thing he may not be known for, which he is keen at is Music.
In summer 2010, Gyan recorded and released an award winning Hiplife song "African Girls" with a close friend (who is now late) Castro The Destroyer, where he featured under the alias "Baby Jet"; the song won an award at the Ghana Music awards in 2011.
Awards are one thing Gyan has never won as a footballer; individually and with a club, but he has as a rapper.
Gyan also did another song "Do Da Dance" and ''Odo Pa'' with Castro before the latter passed away in an accident
In 2011, he started his own mobile disco business as a sideline to turning out for Sunderland. Gyan performed at Steve Bruce's wife's birthday party, dropping north east anthems at the Hendon social club.
Gyan is also a boxing promoter, he said on July 6: on July 6:
"Ghana has a lot of great boxers previously like Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and Joshua Clottey, so we need to push the young ones coming up. I would like to encourage the young ones coming up and those who want to achieve their aim."
