Nigerian filmmaker Stanlee Ohikhuare and TV personality/model Zainab Balogun collaborate on an emotional short film Verdict.
The 9-minute clip is based on the death of LaVena Johnson, a 19 year old African-American girl who enlisted in the army and died 8 weeks after she was deployed to Iraq.
It was nine days to her 20th birthday. Her death was brutal, she was hit in the head with a blunt instrument, her nose was broken, her elbow distended, and her clothes had debris indicating she had been dragged from one location to another.
The US army ruled her death a suicide but when her father saw her body in funeral home, he decided to investigate.
They claim that LaVena shot herself with her M-16 gun, but the gunshot was on the left side of her head, LaVena was right handed.
Meanwhile CBS News paid for a second autopsy. After body was exhumed, it was discovered that parts of her tongue, vagina and anus were missing and her neck was broken all which was not reported om autopsy.
The video is so emotional. Zainab clearly proves she is an actress to watch out for and Stanlee as an exceptional filmmaker.
