WOMEN GROUP TO PROTEST IMPOSITION OF APC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

The women wing of the Vanguard of Progressive Change, a support group, says its members will protest on the streets if the All Progressives Congress (APC) imposes any candidate on the people.

The group made its intentions known in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja and signed by its Leader, Ekema Edith. According to the statement, attempt to impose a particular candidate on the party is against the wish and desire of the party’s teaming supporters and is not acceptable to women in the APC.
It cautioned leaders of the party on the desire and aspirations of the people for a change. “There is no doubt that the emergence of our party is not for the selfish interest where the end justifies the means but rather its a product of the desire and aspirations of the people for a
change in our country. “Any attempt by any persons to impose any presidential candidate
will be treated as political sabotage. We can no longer fold our arms to watch someone destroy our collective patrimony.

The  statement read “We want to take our destiny in our own hands this time around, and we will resist any attempt to stop or suppress internal democracy in our party. “Internal democracy is the only
remedy to avert the doomsday for the APC if imposition is the order of the day,” the statement stated. The group, however, lauded the presidential aspiration of Gov. Rabiu
Kwankwaso of Kano State, describing him as a man who “carved a niche for himself”. “We therefore implore this young and dynamic leader to throw in his cap into the ring,”
