FULANI HERDSMEN KILL 31 IN TARABA

The Christian Reformed Church, Nigeria, has lamented that the killing of about 30 Christians by Hausa-Fulani herdsmen in some parts of Taraba State, despite the ceasefire agreement reached by the Federal Government and the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

The President of CRC-N, Rev. Caleb Ahima, in a Save Our Soul message to the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, on Monday in Abuja, said time had come for CAN “to let the Federal Government intervene in the bloodshed in southern Taraba.”
According to him, the number of casualties was high because security tips given to security operatives were ignored.
The cleric said, “I wish to inform the National President of CAN about the carnage and genocide by Islamic insurgents of the Hausa-Fulani insurgents in the Wukari Local Government Area, beginning from February 2014
Sunday, October 19, 2014, the predominantly Christian southern part of the state, precisely the Wukari LGA, was attacked again. The villages of Gindin Waya and Sondi were attacked in the morning of the Day of the Lord on which Christians gather to worship the Lord.
“This is the third time that the Muslims have attacked Christians on Sunday. The attack of today (Sunday) led to the death of four persons in Gindin Waya, and 27 persons in Sondi. Among the dead were the Pastor of the Sondi Church and his only male child. The huge army of insurgents that attacked Sondi wore army uniform. What is happening in Nigeria?
“Reports reaching the headquarters of the CRC-N Church in Takum, Southern Taraba State, say that another Pastor, Nuhu Useni, was killed by the Hausa-Fulani on his farm. His dead body will also be brought to Wukari tomorrow for burial.”
He said, “I am appealing to the National President of CAN, Pastor Ayodele Oritsejafor, to let the Federal Government intervene in the bloodshed in Southern Taraba. The Hausa-Fulani North seems determined to wipe southern Taraba off the map of this country. What is happening? How come that one LGA has been attacked seven times now and it seems as if the country has no good security intelligence gathering network, or that security reports are not being used?”
