Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has emerged as the latest
foreign coach linked with coaching the Super Eagles national team.
You will recall that Amodu Shaibu has been contracted by the Nigeria Football
Federation(NFF) on an interim basis, but expected to be in charge for just the
next two 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers after which a foreign coach will be named.
According to SL10.NG, Zola's agent, Ladi Salami has made contacts with the NFF over the possibilities of inviting the Italian to hold talks with the federation.
"Gianfranco Zola is interested in coaching the Super Eagles and will apply for the job as soon as possible. His agent is in contact with the Nigeria Federation. No negotiations have taken place now until he formally declares interest and both sides weigh all their options,’’ an official was quoted as saying.
Zola has had coaching stints with English clubsides, West Ham and Watford in the championship.
Jose Pekerman,Ruud Gullit, Henri Michel,Klaus Toppmoller and Roger Lemerre are some of the top coaches linked with managing the Super Eagles.
