MD OPENS UP LIBERIAN AMBASSADOR THREATENED TO SUE U.S OVER SAWYER'

The Liberian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh has been accused of putting the management of the First Consultants Medical Centre (FCMC) under pressure to release Late Ebola-infected patient Patrick Sawyer.
This was revealed yesterday, October 10, by the Medical Director of the FCMC, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri who also said that the ambassador had threatened to sue the hospital if Sawyer wasn’t released.
Dr. Ohiaeri  told newsmen that “The ambassador said if we continued to keep him (Sawyer), it would be tantamount to kidnap and abuse of human right. He said if we did not release him, we would be subjecting our hospital to an international diplomatic row and we should not rule out the possibility of law suit.”
Meanwhile  the MD added that the hospital management decided that despite the threat, the right thing to do was to keep Sawyer confined for the good of the public.
The FCMC lost 4 staff to the Ebola Virus Disease including Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh, who had worked there for 21 years and 25-year-old nurse, Justina Ejelonu who had just resumed and was 2 months pregnant.
Patrick Sawyer died of Ebola on July 25 and the disease claimed the life of 8 Nigerians after his passing.
