ARSENE WENGER OPINION ON SUPER EAGLES AT THE WORLD CUP
Wenger calls Eagles organization poor Poor organization and not “lack of talent” has been identified as the reason behind the failure of Nigeria Super Eagles to progress beyond the round of 16 at the 2014
Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil. This is the verdict of the Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger who has been carrying out a post-mortem of the African champions showing in Brazil. Wenger said the Super Eagles could have progressed farther than they did in the competition in Brazil if conditions were ideal. “Nigeria had no solidarity. They showed the whole world the problems they had before the World Cup and it was the same with Cameroun. “The problem was not lack of talent but with poor organization,” Wenger told Beinsport. Wenger however identified positives in the play of the Eagles in Brazil and praised the team’s first half display against eventual conquerors, France. “Nigeria was not too bad against France. They had a good first half but could not maintain the momentum in the second half,” he said. Nigeria have never progressed beyond the round of 16 at the World Cup.
