President Goodluck Jonathan will pay a one-day visit to Kebbi State on
Nov. 25 to commission the new N14 billion Sir Ahmadu Bello International
airport.
Alhaji Abubakar Mua'zu, the Press Secretary to Gov. Sa'idu Dakingari
stated this in statement he issued on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi.
He said that the state government had already commenced preparations
for the one day visit.
Mua’zu said that the construction of an international airport would
boost the social, economic and tourism potentials of the state.
He said that it would also attract investors, provide employment and
generate revenue.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the renovation and
decoration of major government structures as well as the road leading to the
new airport located in Ambursa had also commenced.
NAN recalls that the airport handled the airlift of the 2014 state
Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia even as commercial and private airlines are already
using the facility for domestic operations.
A cross section of residents of the state commended the government for
the project.
They, however, called for proper maintenance to be strictly adhered to
in line with global standards to avoid waste.
