The last may not have been heard in the controversial divorce suit between Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife, Anita. The latest, according to an online publication, ‘The Cable’, is that Oyakhilome, who is the founder/pastor in charge of Christ Embassy, one of Nigeria’s most popular Pentecostal churches, is frantically shopping for the best legal team money can get for the divorce case instituted by his wife in a UK court.
Oyakhilome’s wife had in April filed for divorce at Central Family Court, High Holborn, London, on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery”. Though, the charismatic pastor had not only denied the charges of adultery in strong terms, and only last Thursday in a newspaper advertorial threatened to sue journalists for reporting the case, he has no resolved to engage the services of reputable family lawyers to launch his defence.
The names of his would-be legal representatives are yet to be ascertained. The Cable said it learnt they are expected to come from the UK since the wife also engaged the services of a British law firm, Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors.
It is yet unclear the position to be taken by Oyakhilome on the case – either to stall the divorce or to stop the wife from getting hefty alimony
