EDO PERMANENT SECRETARY SPEAKS ON SCHOOL RESUMPTION DATE

With the recent Federal Government orders that both the public and registered private primary and secondary schools that were meant to resume on September 15th and postponed to October13th be reversed to the previous date in September attributed to the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in the country has elicited reactions from Nigerians.

In Edo State, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Mrs. Gladys Idahor on behalf of the Commissioner said sequel to the meeting of the 36 Education commissioners with the Federal Minister of Education Ibrahim Shekarau to enable all states take precautionary measure against the spread of Ebola Virus in schools, the state Government has scheduled a training programme for two teachers each in both public and private schools.
She said aside the trainees, the government has also put in place some health officers from the state Health ministry and monitors  to complement the teachers’efforts in order to arrest the scourge in case of any outbreak in Edo Schools.
Mrs. Idahor said the days of the training for the two teachers in each school for two days will be slated for 2nd week of September in the three senatorial district of Edo State.
Some Nigerian Parents who reacted to this development of Federal Government reversal of school resumption date to September appreciated the decision and said it was what they believed the government thought right in their wisdom to save lives in schools against the deadly Ebola virus disease.
