Egypt discovers tomb of Pharaonic-foreign minister

The tomb of a Pharaonic official, whose role was similar to that of a foreign minister, has been found in Egypt, Antiquities Minister, Mohammed Ibrahim said on Thursday.
The tomb, discovered by Cairo University’s archaeologists in the Saqqara archaeological zone south of the Giza pyramids, belonged to a man called Paser.
Paser was head of the Army Archives and Royal Messenger to foreign countries, the ministry said.
It includes painted scenes of the afterlife of the deceased, showing his funeral, the tribunal of the underworld presided over by the god Osiris and the goddess of the west welcoming the deceased.
The tomb is thought to date to ancient Egypt’s 20th Dynasty, which reigned in the 12th and 11th centuries BC. (dpa/NAN)
