Despite
the introduction of Tactical Operation Checkpoint by the Jigawa state police
command to check the incessant robbery, unidentified gunmen have snatched one
of the official vehicles belonging to Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido.
Confirming
the incident in Dutse, the state capital, Police Public Relations Officer of
the command, DSP Abdu Jinjiri said Jigawa state police command received the
news of a staff vehicle belonging to government house, “at exactly 9pm a Toyata
Land cruiser V8 driven by one Auwalu Mohammed was snatched at gunpoint by
unidentified robbers.
The
command according to the spokesman has drafted its men across the state to
track the stolen vehicle, while the driver, Auwalu Mohammed has been arrested
and been interrogated by the state criminal investigation department (CID).
Vanguard
reports that cases of vehicles robbery has become order of the day in Jigawa
state as people from neighboring states and countries bombards the state
capital, Dutse and steal vehicles especially those belonging to government and
civil servants working in the state civil service and other private individual.
Meanwhile,
DSP Abdu Jinjiri debunked a romour in speculation that the command has ordered
for the closure of all viewing centers across the state, saying police
authority has no such jurisdiction. “The law has not guarantee the police to
make such move, is beyond our control”.
